Guillermo Santamaría Bonfil

Guillermo Santamaria Bonfil is a Cátedra-CONACYT researcher at the National Institute of Electricity and Clean Energies.
Dr. Santamaría completed his Ph.D. and his undergraduate studies at Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM), and his postdoctoral studies at the Applied Mathematics and Systems Research Institute (IIMAS-UNAM) with Dr. Carlos Gershenson (2014-2016). Prior to joining CONACYT’s Catedras program, he worked as a Risk Data Scientist at BBVA Bancomer bank (Jan-Sep 2016), and as IT Sales specialist and Project Manager in IBM Mexico (2005-2009).
His research includes data science approaches for problem solving, Machine Learning (supervised/unsupervised learning), time series modelling and forecasting, wind energy forecasting, metaheuristic optimization, complexity and non-linear analysis.
Dr. Santamaría has co-supervised 1 Masters student (during the IIMAS postdoc), and currently is supervisor and co-supervisor of 7 Master students. He has published 6 journal papers, and 1 conference paper. He has been reviewer for several international journals, and has held various roles in scientific committees of various organizations and meetings.
